September is nearly over- it was the first month in a long time when only Paolo traveled. We got back into the school and activity routine and Gioia really became a part of the family. The saddest part of the month was saying goodbye to Honey...
Paolo traveled to Uganda, Rwanda and, for the first time, Somalia. With security concerns there he spent most of his time in this bunker near the airport.
Jagger is never without his beloved tennis ball. Since I do not allow him to sleep with one in his mouth (trying to save his teeth), this is his compromise.
What my office looks like when I am writing....
Had her first grooming appointment. Gorgeous. She does NOT look like this now (rainy season has returned and she loves mud)...
Our very fierce guard dog. I think we can cancel our security company services now....
Taken early in the month. Might be the last picture I have of her smaller than Jagger!
Guess what happens every single time I sit down?!
Kitchen snuggles.
September 6th- 4 months old.
Honey enjoying a morning at Karura- one of her last visits there.
Getting a groom. Prepping for her upcoming flight to Bangkok.
Saturday morning swim team practice. In a shocking development only the Italian girls showed up on time!
Birthday party cheetah.
The next pet my kids are now obsessed with getting. I am resisting BIG time.
A new friend.
75% of our dogs had a professional groom. Bruno abstained.
Riding lesson with a friend...
A final goodbye to Honey.
Off she went to Bangkok. It was hard to say goodbye to this special girl but we are so happy she is finally reunited with her family.
Fun before their Italian class...
Gioia's first walk in Karura (I waited to take her until all vaccinations where complete).
Integration into our morning Karura gang....
Scene from Gioia's puppy class.
She is actually the youngest in the class!!
The first time Maria had a friend to spend the night. Perfect since this is her very best friend in the world!
Up late with Magna-tiles.
They actually slept well! And then up to make cards for their mamas. First sleepover a big success! Now Maria wants one every weekend....
Post puppy-class collapse.
Every weekend there is at least one birthday party. This was a dress-up one.
Sept 9th our sweet Alaska had her first litter of puppies at SA Guide Dogs. (Alaska was the final puppy we raised for them; she was selected to be a brood bitch for them.) She had 8 puppies: 5 girls, 3 boys, 4 black, 4 yellow. So proud of her!
Check out her one monster boy. Her litter is the "G" litter so I think they should name him Gio!
She sorted them by color. Alaska learned to be a type A woman from me!
On Fridays we have to take two trips to get everything to the bus. 2 backpacks, 2 swim bags and Gio's new trumpet!
Gio had his first swim gala/meet of the school year!
Weekend playdate.
Another weekend playdate. Ellie is in Gioia's puppy class!
Gio at a birthday party that included quad biking!
Maria and the entire 1st grade on stage for the school assembly this month. This song is about "bucket filling" based on the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" Highly recommended!
Big tongue afternoon in Karura.
Her favorite time of day- waiting for the children to return on the school bus!
Sunday plat date with lunch in the pool....
We are off to the USA next month for a few weeks. Happy Fall/Spring to all of you.
