September: Return to Virtual School....

September started off in Italy, school began virtually and we returned to Nairobi....

Two very different reactions to the start of school on Sept 1st....

Maria still had time in the afternoons to ride.

COVID testing round 2 (required to re-enter Kenya).

Maria has the most amazing teacher.  And with her 3 best friends all in her class she is as happy as she can be even if only seeing them all on Zoom.

Zoom PE....

Visiting a dear friend's new honey factory.

A 3:30AM wake up to begin our long trek back to Kenya on September 5th.

Masked and crashed.

These two have a few more days at camp
before the bus brings them back to Nairobi.

Kiswahili class...where Maria answers 90% in Italian (she does the same in Spanish class!)...

Cinnamon has taken over the dog beds.  He will retreat again to the roof when Gioia returns- he hates her!

She's home!

There are some advantages to virtual learning....

....like being able to PE in your PJs (with your very lazy assistant "supervising"!

I made a memory book for Gio about Bruno.

A Zoom call with a few of my boarding school friends.

Gio playing "Ode to Joy"...

I voted!

Finished quarantine and went immediately to the stables!

Jagger gets a LOT of attention from Maria with extra walks, grooming and ball throwing.  He can only really rest when Maria is on a Zoom call.

Salt came to yell at me one morning.  His bowl was "empty"...

Maria reading aloud to a not-so-captive audience.
Bonus points if you can find Gioia.

Back to trumpet lessons....

....and play dates!

Story writing and Billie Eilish.

Gioia imagines herself a fierce bird dog....

I was supposed to be participating in a mindfulness exercise during a school Zoom call.  But I ended up watching Netflix instead.  Oops!

Toast begging.

Last lesson of September.

October expectations:
Virtual learning continues
A trip to Lamu
Many more trips to the stables
Gio's gang of 4 getting together every Wednesday and most weekends
Sleepovers for Maria

xoxo,  Clara
